Surf School
Gary's Surf School is a long established company based on beautiful Muizenberg Beach near Cape Town. The school is well known by locals and tourists with many visitors returning year after year to continue their quest to ride the waves. Muizenberg Beach is known for its gentle sloping white beach and consistent waves making it conducive to learning the art of surfing extremely quickly. Gary is acknowledged to be the most experienced surfing coach in South Africa and he is personally involved in the lessons, with many up and coming young surfers being products of the school. Gary is looking for enthusiastic individuals that want to make a positive contribution to the school. Volunteers are needed for surf instruction and various activities including caring for surfing equipment, taking bookings from locals and tourists and assisting customers. Volunteers will be able to assist disadvantaged youngsters that visit the school 2 to 3 times each week. There will also be opportunities to get involved in various other community outreach projects that the Surf School operates. No specific qualifications are necessary, as volunteers will be trained in these specific areas. The majority of AVIVA volunteers that join the Surf School have never surfed before, so this could be a great opportunity for those that want to learn more about this fascinating sport. This is a great opportunity to share your individual interests and passions within the school. The work is demanding, but extremely rewarding. This project allows you to encounter some of the most striking culture that South Africa has to offer along with the time and freedom to explore the areas of your interest.
